People tend to fall into three categories:

  1. They know nothing about social media and it really scares them
  2. They know a lot of random stuff about social media and they’ve dabbled but in all honestly, don’t know how to create some structure and make it work
  3. They’re pretty clued up and either know their stuff or have a natural ability (and are not afraid) to work things out for themselves.

If you fall into either of the first two categories then you really should consider the Foundation course.  It will give you an understanding of Social Media so that you see how it fits into the digital marketing mix and so you can start using it effectively to promote your business and products or services.

The course is structured around a strategy template, which means you’ll leave with all the elements lined up to complete your  plan and put into action almost immediately. It also means you will be able tap into the 37 million social media users in South Africa alone!

Course content is as follows:

  • Introduction, Defining strategy & Benefits of Social Media  Why social media in the first place and then why you need a social media strategy.
  • Platform options: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube and Google Plus  The purpose of each, how they work and what they can do to help promote your business
  • Target audience  Understanding who you are targeting, how to define them and what to do with the info once you’ve worked it all out
  • Blogging, Websites, Emails and Newsletters  Why you have to have these as part of your marketing mix and how they work with social media to grow your business
  • Content strategy and Content calendar  What you’re going to say, which platforms you’ll be saying it on and what you need in the form of images, links, web elements etc, to support the messages
  • Measuring your success – What you need to measure, how to do it and what to do with the results
  • Pulling it all together – Using case studies to illustrate how all of the elements come together to make your marketing extremely powerful
  • Wrapping-up – A final wrap with a plan for what to do going forward and a final opportunity for questions

Classes run quarterly in the main centres (Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth) but can be run anywhere if you have a group of 10 or more.
